The award has been set up in loving memory of Aaron Gurmail (1990-2014) who graduated from King’s College London’s Dental Institute in July 2014. During his time as a dental student, Aaron was a role model to all, well-respected by both his colleagues and teachers. An active member of the dental student community, he held roles as Secretary of the Smile Society and BDS5 Rep of the Dental Society. He is remembered for his compassion for others, having spent a month volunteering as a dental volunteer in Ghana and helping prospective medical and dental students at his former school (Tiffin School) with personal statements and interviews. To honour Aaron's memory, the Dental Society have awarded £500 and a certificate to one student annually, who has demonstrated compassion and commitment to others, excelled in non-academic, extra-curricular activities such as sports, societies or charity work.
