MATT BILLINGTON
Hey guys,
I hope you are all smashing revision and almost ready for the exams next week. Although when you see this we may have already done the exam.
The time for BDS2 rep nominations is here, and I would love to represent you guys and make your views heard within the Dental Society. Let’s also make it an awesome year and I’ll do my best to make sure we all have a good time while doing one of the hardest degrees in the country.
I like to think of myself as a guy you can easily talk to and raise issues with, and I’ll be sure to be proactive in liaising with the Dental School and take appropriate action, to make sure you are heard.
As you all know, the GPEP students will be joining at the start of next year. I have plans for a social at the start of the year so we can all get to know the newbies, and make them feel part of our year. I also have plans to organise a more formal end of year 2 black tie ball where we can all get dressed up to celebrate the end of phase 1.
I’d also love it if there was better integration with BDS1,2 and 3, with more organised socials with the other years. I’ll be in communication with the year 3 rep next year to get something organised.
I will also look into trying to sort out the frustrating problem with lecture capture finishing before the lecture is finished.
Finally, there has been rumours of a Grads versus Undergrads football match. I would like to pursue this and make it a big event for the year. It will be great if we got a big fan turnout to support your fellow generation. (It’ll be great fun day out, 100% will be a laugh). It will also be a great way to get the GPEP students involved.
As part of my “get fit’ scheme I will also offer free PT sessions for BDS2 students next year; if any of you are even slightly interested I’ll be here to help.
My main aim is for everyone to have a better and more enjoyable year along with your studies. Whether this be non drinking or drinking socials, there will be a lot more of both next year.
Thanks to everyone who has made it this far down in my email. I wish everyone the best of luck in the upcoming exams, go smash it. And don’t forget to vote!!!!
Vote Matt!

TANWEER KAMALY
Hi everyone, it's Tanweer (your boy T) and if you didn't already know I'm running for BDS2 rep next year. I'm not gonna say I'm gonna run all these revision sessions or organise all these socials, etc, because I know everyone kinda does their own thing these days. But what I will say is that I feel like I'd make a great year rep cos I'm a really enthusiastic, confident and loud guy (just in case you hadn't noticed :P). Other than that I wanna prove that I can be organised and hard-working; and that I can take things seriously to get the job done.
So yeah I'd really appreciate your vote, thanks. And good luck to the other candidates. #voTe
(P.S. I promise I wont drop out again XD)

AMAR JETHI
Vote for Amar Jethi for Ball Secretary
Experience - During my time at University of Liverpool as Vice-President of NHSF Liverpool, I organised two Diwali Balls each with an attendance of over 300 guests. I headed the ball sub-committee and sourced venues, entertainment, financial aspects and was technical lead on the day. I also provided lead support in the organisation of a charity dinner and dance for 150 people.
I organised a Bollywood-Cuban fusion Gala Dinner for Women V Cancer in Liverpool and was a part of the UCL Hospitals Mess Ball committee organising an event at the Barbican attended by 200 trust staff including doctors and nursing staff.
Working within the team and supporting the wider society and committee through additional work and volunteering to help provide a better student experience and achieve aims of the society; lead two separate societies to winning awards recognising the work done at a university and national level.
Aims - Continuation of the fantastic events of previous years, with a formal Half-way Ball for current BDS2 students, staff and guests in 2018, with an after party. BDS4 Ball in 2019. Re-establishment of an annual Dental School wide dinner/dance event in similar vein to previous celebration dinners. Charity raffle to support RAG charities during Ball.
Skills - Leading three society committees during my time at Liverpool, managing and organising committees and delegating responsibilities. Through my day job as a doctor I have extensive time management and organisational abilities as well as experience through previous event organisation of components involved and sourcing suppliers and venues and dealing with these sectors as well as fiscal management of a set budget and liaising with treasury staff.
I aim, with your support, to provide dedication and commitment to the role in organising and putting on some amazing events in the next two years so please make your vote count!

TRISHALA LAKHANI
Hello BDS2 (soon to be BDS3),
NOT EVERYDAY TRUMP, SOMETIMES TRISH
For those who don't know me, I am Trishala, and would love to be your BDSA/EDSA Rep.
There are many reasons why I would like to run for BDSA/EDSA rep and I think I am the best candidate for this role because of the following: (I will try to keep this e-mail as short as possible!)
- I have attended BDSA Conference in Liverpool in 2016, and was on the sub committee of BDSA Sport's Day, which we hosted last year, so I have the relevant experience and have a good understanding of the challenges involved in organising and managing BDSA events.
- I would ensure that every single persons needs and criteria are met - I will ensure effective communication between yourself and the BDSA organisers i.e. room sharing, room bookings, T shirt sizes, breakfast packs for all of you etc are all done correctly, and if an unexpected problem was to arise - I will 100% do everything in my power to fix it.
- I have many ideas that would make all of our BDSA experience a lot more fun i.e. organise a party coach to get to our location (i.e. from King's to Liverpool), and organise a big, communal pre-drinks, which will be great in integrating universities.
- I would love to represent our amazing dental institute on an international level. I have close relations with another major International Dental school, and would love to carry on building these relations, so in the future it may be possible to carry out exchanges, which would be an incredible experience. Being EDSA rep, would allow me to carry on building these relations, and open up doors of opportunities for us.
- Of course, BDSA/EDSA isn't all about the nights-out and the drinking, but also to do with 'doing our bit' for charity. I have so many ideas, in which we can raise money for charity; including an inter-dental school football match (i.e. Barts vs King's - which I've already been in touch with them about), bake-offs for all those bakers out there, visit homeless shelters, and many more...
These are just a few of my ideas/reasons for why I would love to be BDSA/EDSA rep, and would really appreciate it if I could have your vote.
I will stop rambling on now.
Thank you guys so much for reading!

What we would like to achieve:
- We want to increase student feedback in order to provide a service more tailored to what students want through drop in sessions, suggestion boxes, emails and face-to-face contact
- To increase integration between GPEP’s and undergraduates
- Arrange more socials within the year group and also with other years
- More help providing information on written exams
- Organise revision talks such as OSCE, viva and intercalation talks
- Open up communication between the year and DentSoc
- Represent your views candidly and constructively to the university, whilst feeding back to you
- Find different ways to encourage people to be more open in giving their suggestions for improvement
- Ultimately we want to improve your academic and social experience

LAURA BORRIE
Hi everyone,
I'm running to be one of the BDS5 reps.
I have 2 main aims:
1. Ensure we get as much support as possible and are as prepared as we can be for everything coming our way in 5th year - particularly DF1 interviews!
2. Make sure we enjoy our final year as King's students and make the most of the short time we have left!
Any concerns or suggestions you have I will happily try and implement where possible.
