All staff and students are invited to attend a cross faculty 'In conversation evening' hosted by KCL Clinical Humanities on the 4th May at 5.30 in New Hunt's House lecture theatre 2, Guy's campus.
This free event welcomes Professor Roger Kneebone (Surgeon) and Professor Aaron Williamon (Music) from the Centre for Performance Science at Imperial to discuss; learning to perform,(simulation both in Surgery and in Music), high performing teams and what we can learn from performance, together with appearances from RAPSOC, Mandeep Singh, Matthew Demetriou, George Rolls and Karolyn John. KCL Clinical Humanities takes an interdisciplinary approach to improving clinical care and student professional and personal development. Thank you to all those who attended the second Dental Society trade fayre. This time there were seven dental companies including Orascoptic, Optident, DDU, Dental Protection, GSK, Dentists Provident and Wesleyan. The project aims to set up a sustainable oral health programme in Sierra Leone which would involve sending volunteers from the UK to implement the integrated healthcare program. KCL Dental Society, The Dental Wellness Trust and SDI are delighted to Introduce Dr Geoff Knight BDSc (Melb), LDS, MSc (London), MBA, FICD, FADI, PhD to London. Dr Geoff Knight is a general dentist from Melbourne, Australia with special interests in aesthetic dentistry. He is an internationally recognised dental speaker whose formula for successful practice is based upon high quality, highly efficient, minimally invasive dentistry. The Pharmacological Management of Caries - The pharmacological management of carious tooth structure requires minimal infrastructure to kill the bacteria within the lesion and remineralise carious dentine into a protective caries resistant layer upon which an atraumatic restoration can be placed either at the time of the procedure or at a later date. This simple management protocol can be efficiently applied in both the private and public dental sectors and in remote locations lacking the infrastructure required for traditional care. DentSoc x Dr Anoop Maini - Originally he gained his qualification after studying at King's College in 1992 and since 1993 has been plying his trade in private practices. He is a leading expert in Laser dentistry and Cosmetic adult braces . He has trained 1000’s of general dentists internationally on dental lasers as well as cosmetic braces and is currently engaged as a trainer by the British Institute of Laser Dentistry’s teaching Academy as well as a trainer for the IAS Orthodontic Academy.
Dr Subir Banerji qualified from The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne Dental School. He completed an advanced course in Restorative Dentistry at The Eastman Dental Hospital, London and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
His Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) training was undertaken at the University of London. He is the current Director of the MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry Programme and has taught postgraduates at all levels. As a former Senior Clinical Teacher at the Department of Primary Dental Care, King’s College London Dental Institute he also taught Undergraduate students. He is an examiner for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and a visiting Consultant to the SDM School of Dental Sciences, Karnataka, India. He is also the Head of the Continuing Medical Education Division at i2i Telesolutions Pvt Ltd and on the editorial board of the Academy of Dental Excellence. Dr Banerji has lectured and given numerous courses both nationally and internationally on the subjects of aesthetics, implants, fixed and removable prosthodontics and restorative dentistry and has published in numerous international peer reviewed journals and is involved in dental research. Dr Alun Rees BDS, The Dental Business Coach, graduated from Newcastle University and started his career as an oral surgery resident, before working as an associate in a range of different practices. With this solid foundation, Alun went on to launch two practices in the space of just 15 months, a challenge in the toughest economic conditions. After years of hard work Alun finally sold his dental business in 2005.
Alun's background and experience give him a strong understanding of what others go through to build a successful practice. He has seen many different approaches and learned his own lessons in the real world.
